Frequently Asked Questions.
With your Tiger 1 Card, you can enjoy the convenience of paying for many services on campus with a simple swipe of your ID card. There are no worries about carrying cash, checks, credit cards or fumbling around for exact change when you have Tiger Bucks. You can still use your Tiger 1 Card for your meal plan, building access, library privileges, and other campus services.
The two accounts associated with you Tiger 1 Card are Tiger Bucks and Declining Balance Meal Plan. They are debit plans that work like a credit card in reverse. Every time you make a purchase, the purchase amount is automatically deducted from your account. Your remaining balance will be displayed to let you know how much you have left in your account.
Tiger Bucks is the account that is automatically set up when your Tiger 1 Card is created. You have the option to deposit money to this account at anytime. It is a convenient way for students to pay for purchases on campus. You can only spend what you put in, so there is no need to worry about going into debt. Depositing funds into your Tiger Bucks account indicates full agreement with the Tiger 1 Card’s Terms and Conditions which is shown on the back of the ID Card Agreement Form you signed when your card was issued. You may request copies of the ID Card Agreement by contacting the Tiger 1 Card Office at (713) 313-7029. This account is refundable upon graduation, official withdrawal, or when a cardholder severs his/her relationship with the university. All refunds must be requested in the Tiger 1 Card Office, Room 232, E. S. Sterling Student Center.
The Declining Balance Meal Plan account is connected to your meal plan. Your Declining Balance plan holds an extra value that accompanies your meal plan and can only be used at the University Food Service locations on campus. It is a predetermined amount, and if a cardholder has Declining Balance monies, the system will deduct the food purchased from this account. Declining Balance funds are non-refundable and must be spent before the closing day of each semester.
All faculty, staff, and students with a valid ID card.
